The biggest challenges at these local High school gyms are the lighting. Although they are much better than churches gym, still it is a challenge to get a good white balance. Using both Nikon D700 with a 24 ED 2.8 and the D300 with my trusted 80-200 2.8 ED we managed to capture some amazing shots from these young athletes.
I am glad that High School sports are back. Busy time for our business, if you are a coach, or Athletic director and need professional photos done, contact us.
I picked a few for this week blog, but you can see the whole coverage here.

I took this around 6 pm, trying to get some golden hour effect, but with the sun going down just behind the flowers, using off camera flash was the best approach to get these shots.
I put the Yongnuo YN-560 on a light mount, and played with the power setting. I found that about 1/16 was the perfect setting to help captured the right light. Used the 70-200 2.8 on a few so I was able to get some nice compression photosm also I set the ISO to 200 and closed the aperture as much as I could to help deflect some of the sun light.
Hope you enjoy this... now that High school Football season is near us, my blogging might slowdown, but until next time; here are some Sunflowers.

Taking advantage that our business has slowed down due to the summer. We took a trip up to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park; what an amazing place to get your creative juices going. Here are few shots using the Nikon D700 and D300 with Fill Flash. Enjoy this shoots.
Pulled the Tripod out, and bumped the ISO to 400, and slow down to 1/15 sec with a Fstop of 4.2 to try to get that flow effect.
Dropped the exposure time to 1 sec at f29 to get the above shot.
Going into a cave to take photos is sure a challenge, to take some of these shots I use the walls of the cave to bounce a manual flash, played with the power and bump the ISO and you get the lucky shots :)

The Talented Donna Wolf. I had the chance to cover her music is other venues, and she always knows how to rock the house with her violin. Check her website out for more information https://donnawolfviolinist.wordpress.com/
The Gin Blossons were the main act. Great to be able to shoot this photos, one thing I have learned about photographing concerts, is that lights control is impossible. So I set White Balance to auto, and fix on post.

I took these with my trusted Nikon D700, used Yongnuo YN560 for fill flash. Hope to get my creative side back in full force this summer, and keep up blogging! Until next time, enjoy these shots.
Started by getting creative here, shot at 1/250 Sec F16 at ISO 400, and using fill flash to help with the shadows.
Step down the ISO to 200, and shot the above at 1/125 F18 with Fill Flash at about 1/8 power.
I stopped here for a beer and to listen to some great blues!
The famous Crossroads where the Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil. I must say this small town is full of great music, and a fun place to explore with your camera.

These kids hanging at
I first started in Manual mode, and then quickly realize that I was just too slow for this.
I switched to aperture priority, and played with the ISO. It was a nice overcast day in

Sometimes you are at the right place and at the right time to captured the colors God sometimes helps provide.
I took this yesterday right at sunset while doing some stock Photography.

I took a strolled around the Collierville square, and decided to convert this shots into something different!
All taken with Nikon D700 and 24-80 Lens, off camera flash at full power. then retouch using Lightroom 5.

These were taken with a Nikon D700, sb26 speedlight for fill flash, and all in Manual mode. Like them? leave us a comment...

Wow… it is all I can say this week. I had the chance to cover for a local publication this week Memphis Air Show at the Millington Naval base. I wanted to give out a Big Thank you to the Men and Women of our Military for keeping up safe.
The Blue angels for sure stole the show! Wow amazing precision flying!
I shot these photos using mostly a Nikon D700 full frame, with a 80-200 2.8 ED Lens. Now I first started in Manual mode, then quickly change to Shutter Priority and kept shooting about 1/5000 just to ensure I captured the best action I could.
Here are few of the shots I truly liked for this blog. Just in case you will like a digital copy, feel free to follow this link http://www.romagniphotos.com/p567908977 and thanks to my host provider, if you like to purchase a digital download of any of these photos, use coupon code #Airshow at checkout, and you will get 50 % off on that order.
Until next week.

I had a great time photographing the Collierville Police Classic Car & Bike Show at Central Church today. What a great turn out in this last few days of summer. Some amazing classic, and hot rods that for sure made my creativity flow today. If you love cars, you will love this weeks blog selection.
Great to see Mr Aitken our School Superintendent
Always great to see our city Mayor

The Arlington stadium has one of the best lighting setups I have encountered so far in the local High school fields here, but you add some haze and fog, that brings a bigger challenge in capturing that perfect light for that perfect photo.
I used my Nikon D700 and D300 for this job, all manual mode, and wide open at 2.8, and just increased the ISO as the night went along.
Here are few of the shots that we pick for this week blog, enjoy:

Wow... we have been so busy covering High School Football, and corporate head shots, and other photo bookings that I am a bit behind in my blogging ideas!
Every year, the folks at the Agricenter plant this amazing Sunflowers... These were taken around 6:00 pm, as I tried to time it with a golden hour color effect.
All shots with a Nikon D700 in manual mode... Hope you enjoy these shots!

I got the chance to cover Arlington High School football game vs Kirby last night, besides being a hot summer Tennessee night, I really had a blast shooting these.
If you like to see more actions shots, visits my friends Roger Cotton site http://photos.rogercotton.com/ahsfootball14, but here are a few that I truly wanted to highlight in this week blog.

This past Thursday, on a nice cooler summer day here in Collierville, and you add some great antiques cars at the square, it sure makes a perfect event to capture some great shots. Enjoy viewing some of these classic cars.

This week blog photos are from a recent trip to

Now that school is out, our regular busy time is coming to a slow for at least a month or so. Today I decided to use my camera for fun. Collierville Morton Museum had a Civil War Living History exposition, a few characters walking around the square.
I captured these photos for the Blog this week. I processed this on Lightroom and trying to use OnOne more for some minor editing, and I truly love the end result.
Here enjoy…

Last night during my son little league game, took out the 70-300 2.8, and got to play with the moon. I added a 1.5x extender. Captured this shot at about 540 mm, exposed at 1/320 at F/8, then just a bit of tweaking in lightroom.
I can’t wait until next week blood moon, I just hope we have clear skies. Go ahead and leave me a comment, we always love feedback. Hope you all enjoy the weekend; we have a full plate with spring photos.
Until next week.

Today Venezuelans residing in the Memphis area gathered to rally so that we can show support to our families and friends that are now fighting for the right to be free, for the right to have a better a life back in Venezuela.
We are doing our part from away to help spread the word of what is going on in Venezuela. We know that the main stream media has completely forgot about what is happening in our own hemisphere.
Taking my time and talent, I took these photos so that my people in Venezuela can see that they are not alone. If you would like to help, feel free to share this blog with others, so we can spread the word of what is happening just south of us.
Esto es para ti Venezuela desde Memphis, Tennessee.

Young and Old! are getting killed by the National Guard, yet we dont hear much on our main stream media.
This week blog is for my people, para mi Gente! from Tennessee helping get the word out!
As a naturalized United States Citizen I value might rights under the first Amendment to be able to express my views but as a born Venezuelan citizen I cant do the same in my birth place.
If you ask why you should care? next time you pump gas in your car just remember that the USA imports about 40 % of the oil that we consume from Venezuela.

Every summer, there are concerts that take place at the Collierville square, and this is actually one of my favorite locations whenever I get a call from a client wanting us to do their family portraits.
This week they had a great classic car show along with some great music and food. So I packed some basics in the camera bag, and took the family for a walk on what turned out to be a very pleasant summer evening.
The square it self it is an amazing place to take photos year around, and then if you add classic cars like old Fords, Mustangs, Corvettes, MG’s just to name a few, it truly gets your creativity out.
Here are some of the cars that really caught my eye, you can enjoy the rest here (http://www.romagniphotos.com/p706902861)

The Sunflowers will be blooming soon at Shelby Farms, so when they do, we will be ready! These are limited time sessions as they don’t stay in bloom very long.

The weather cleared up, and it was a great and exciting game to shoot. The cross-town rivalry was at full force with both team aiming to go to State, the boys from Collierville and Houston played their harts out, even if they where some questionable calls by the refs, still an exciting game.

In a week or so, little league baseball start, and I will be busy coaching and also taking team and individual photos for our team and the rest of the league teams. Our early runs of spring mini-sessions yield excellent results, giving us a few new clients.
We have also been very busy continuing seeking new clients, working our site, getting the word out of our promotions via twitter or Facebook, and also in the not so fun side of managing your own business with keeping us with paying the bills, get the tax filling ready, etc
This upcoming weekend is Easter, and I am planning to take a few days off from my day job, so I hope to get out and enjoy this amazing weather, and get going with outdoor shots from sports to portraits.
More to blog later…

Also this weekend is daylight saving time, yeap we lose that hour of sleep, but in the plus side, we get that extra hour of daylight, so that gives me that extra hour of twilight moment to shoot some great outdoors portraits.
We starting to get busy with our mini-sessions for folks that one that perfect spring or even Easter photo, this weekend along we have 3 mini-sessions and one full session, and top of that I have our first little league practice, but the good news spring break is here, so I be taking some needed R&R from my day job, enjoy some family time, and do some side local trips, and maybe find some great subject to shoot.
Hope you all enjoy your day, keep up with our offers by following us on twitter @RomagniPhotos, and always at http://www.romagniphotos.com/.
